It is the time when the first synthetic materials appear (nylon created in the USA in 1937) and restrictions force women to recover old fabrics (fabric of the curtains, bathrobes...). Skirts are knee high, shoes with high platform soles (out of wood or cork) and trousers gain popularity.
The Occupied Paris sees the developement of new fashion houses such as Jacques Fath, Nina Ricci, Rochas...
The " bandouliere " bag made its appearance, more adapted to bicycle riding.
The elegant ones lacking refinement covered their legs with a coating and drew in black a line of seam.
In 1947, Christian Dior presents his first collection; a true revolution. Christian Dior invents the "New Look" style. The hip is curved, the chest high and generous, the shoulders small and round, and loose skirts in the shape of a corolla or straight 20 cm off the ground.
Dior gives back fashion's first fonction: to embellish Women.
